About Us

Law Enforcement Exploring came to Fairfax County in 1975 with the formation of Post 1742.  The number "1742" represents the year that the County was founded.

Over the years, members of the Police Department have assisted young men and women develop skills that can be used throughout their lives.  The program has expanded so much that 2 new Posts were created.  Post 2252 was named in honor of Lt Frances "Frank" Stecco badge #2252.   Post 505 was named in honor of  Ofc Karen Bassford badge #505.

Post 1742 meets in the Western part of the County at the Criminal Justice Academy.  Post 2252 meets in the Eastern part of the County at West Potomac High School. Post 505 meets in the middle of the County at Annandale High School.

Fairfax County Explorer posts are part of a much larger national program called Learning for Life.  Visit www.exploring.org to learn more.
